Report from Rachel in the Phillipines:
Hey lovely people,
I've been pretty busy lately. Mostly sit down functions. Yesterday I met the mayor of the city. Nice guy. He is a Rotarian of my and opened up his conference room to us. That's where I gave my presentation about where I live. Filipinos talk all the time, no matter who has the microphone. I didn't have a microphone... but nobody talked. I assume they enjoyed my speech.
I've been to the malls. Everything is so cheap. It cost $2 to see a movie in the 'cinema'. They told me 'thats to expensive'. Northern Lights can't even beat that! It also cost $2 to buy a shirt. It hard to stay sane and not go on a shopping spree. So I have budgeted about $10 a week. This covers mostly lunch at school and a small treat at the mall or personal needs. Which ever comes first.
Church, haven't been to one yet. I think we are going to Mass tomorrow, pleez pray for me. Fortunately a good friend told me to keep in the word. That has been very helpful.
So I think I have told about all the interesting stuff. But I know you have a million questions.
Send your questions. I will pick a couple popular ones and do my best to answer them.
Remember it's hard for me to get on the net.
Love from,
